When I gazed at my Reiki Master/Teacher certificate (after receiving it on March 4, 2016) I thought to myself, “Am I really a Reiki Maste...
There’s three things there’s nearly always time for; sass, sparkle, and smellin’ roses. Sometimes this gets me in trouble.
My nifty cool, nuts and bolts, official earned accomplishments:
Associate's in Massage Therapy, Pending, ETA June 2020
Motoki Lvl 2 (highest currently offered), earth-based modality, January 28, 2018
Master’s in Education, multiple subject w/a focus on curriculum and social justice, May 2016
Reiki Master/Teacher, traditional Usui Ryoho, March 4, 2016
Bachelor’s in Child & Adolescent Development, magna cum laude, December 2012
Associate’s in Early Childhood Education, June 2008
I worked hard for all of these, and to apply what I learned in my life, no matter what I’m doing. This is why I am so comfortable working with people of all ages. I have been consistently meditating and practicing mindfulness since 2011 (note consistency, I don't count the dabble years). By summer of next year I will also have an Associate’s in Massage Therapy! W00! I want to eventually open a part-time family massage healing practice, but that requires extra training to learn how to massage children and pregnant women safely.
I’m currently writing an urban fantasy novel for young adults. I am also writing oracle cards specifically for people with post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorder, and major depressive disorder. I’m intimately familiar with those and with chronic pain, migraine w/aura, as those are my diagnoses on my Kaiser chart. I do my darndest to practice what I preach, and because of that personal practice, my symptoms have dramatically reduced. I also have Tarot deck ideas I'm bouncing around.
I am a mother of one and a wife of one with two cats, and two guinea pigs. I originally wanted five children but that wasn’t meant to be. However, hopefully I will someday get a chance to own rabbits.
Music, singing, art, crystals, science, gaming, science fiction and fantasy, are among my other geeky interests. Some highlights of what I love in film and TV: 80’s My Little Pony, She-Ra (both versions), the Avengers movies, Robotech, Babylon 5, Star Wars, Star Trek, Steven Universe, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, and Into The Spider-verse. Some highlights of some cool books that I love: The Miles Vorkosigan novels by Lois McMaster Bujold, and The Sharing Knife series by the same author, (pretty much anything by Bujold, I haven’t been disappointed yet), and also The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson, the Elfquest graphic novels by Wendy and Richard Pini, and The Dresden Files novels by Jim Butcher.
I try to live by the two greatest commandments (commitments), both of which are boiled down to LOVE, for God Is Love. I also try to live by what Joseph Smith Jr said, "The grand fundamental of Mormonism is to receive truth, let it come from whence it may." Therefore, I am sort of a Pagan Liberal Eclectic Christian Feminist Mormon Mystic but that's a mouth full. In reality I'm merely a human being doing my best. I believe in being responsible stewards of the Earth (yes, I still eat bacon). I believe in blending Western medicine with energy healing and faith; I believe that they are, in fact, complementary. I believe in gay rights, that there’s more than two genders, that black lives matter, and that there are no throw away people. All of you matter. Every single one of you. Now and forever. Amen.
